Initial Consultation
During your first session, Louie will take you through a thorough health history to get an understanding of which areas of your health you would like to work on with her. This will give you an opportunity to discuss with Louie any concerns you may have. Together you will dicuss a treatment plan that will assist you in achieving your health goals.
The initial consultation includes treatment that may utilize acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, herbal medicine or a combination. All modalities can be discussed with Louie prior to treatment, and your preferences will be respected.
The cost for herbal medicines is not included in the consultation fee.
Return consultation
After your initial consultation we can get into treatment more quickly, following the previously discussed treatment plan. As the therapeutic relationship develops, more or less techniques will be utilized according to your needs on the day. There will be space in each appointment for you to bring anything into the room that you would like to work on.
Treatment Techniques

Toyohari is a Japanese form of Acupuncture that utilizes silver needles and other round ended tools to stimulate acupuncture points around the body, particularly on the limbs and torso. It is a gentle technique and should leave you feeling calm and centered.

Involves the use of cups that are applied with a mild suction onto the skin, creating a vacuum affect. Louie applies this technique very gently and uses it to balance Qi in the meridians.

Utilizes a dried herb, Ai Ye or Mugwort, that is burnt on or near the skin to provide a very gentle heat sensation. Caution is practiced to ensure that the heat is only slightly felt, if felt at all.

Chinese Herbal Medicine utilizes dried plant and animal parts for their therapeutic affects. Louie only uses the highest quality organic, gluten free, plant based and non-GMO herbs available from Empirical Health. There are both raw and granule options to choose from and Louie can help guide you to finding what is right for you. Herbal medicine can be used to support your body internally and can be used in many circumstances. Louie will discuss with you if it might be helpful.
Pediatric acupuncture
Louie uses Shonishin or “children’s needle” when treating children and babies. This uses round ended tools that are tapped or stroked on the surface of the skin to regulate Qi inside the body. This technique is suited for children as it is painless and does not require them to lie still. In fact, Shonishin treatments are a playful dance that are ultimately calming and fun for the child. They can be administered while the child is playing, crawling around or being held by their caregiver. These treatments meet the child where they are at and are appropriate for children of all ages, from birth to 17 years of age.
These gentle and effective treatments can assist with easing symptoms related to many childhood difficulties including but not limited to growth and development, sleep, anxiety, digestive, appetite and eating problems, asthma, skin rashes, attention difficulties, fatigue and recurrent infections.
